We enjoy going to farmers markets not because we like the idea of carrying our own bags and jars to put our food in - it mentally starts to grow on you that you're shopping as if you did not have plastic options with bags. I was watching another video that says if your food and presentation looks visually really appealing, you are more likely to enjoy eating and utilizing those choices.
I am not sure if we are ready to transition out of plastics but we are more aware to utilizing less plastics and are attempting to downgrade our trash size in order to force us into this transition. It's a bit harder when you are the landlord and you rent out the downstairs and share our garbage... you end up with the same amount of trash.
I know personally how hard it is to make changes from using less plastics and creating less trash, but I think it is so important! I'm so glad that you are attempting to compost and doing what you can to reduce your impact on global warming!
ReplyDeleteThis has been a tough one for me too. I really think change is slow. It is okay to start with just a few small changes first, and have time to adjust to them. The first step is awareness. The second is to focus on 1-2 things to change. I am no longer buying plastic water bottles. I am also saving glass jars, and making sure I always have a reusable bag or two in my car for groceries etc.
